SAFE held our first annual 5K Fun Run/Walk for SAFEty took place Sunday October 25, 2009 in Golden Gate Park at Peacock Meadow. We want to raise awareness of personal and family safety - whether you are out for a walk in the park, going for your daily run, walking the dog, or waiting for MUNI, we want everyone to learn the best ways to be safe and aware of your surroundings.
The event was a huge success with approximately 150 runners, walkers, and babes in strollers participating. There was a post-race party with music from DJ William Murray and delicous BBQ from the grillmasters of SFPD's Park station. Supervisor Eric Mar presented awards to the top male runner, top female runner, and to the team with the most participants - Team Walgreens.
The First Annual 5K Fun Run/Walk for SAFEty was also designed to raise funds for SAFE’s important crime prevention and public safety services. SAFE provides over 100 free safety presentations every year to children, adults, seniors, the disabled, businesses, and more! We look forward to an even bigger event next year!
